Kenneth B. Paterson, 91, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:42 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his home. He was born January 26, 1933, in Granite City, Illinois, a son of the late Robert and Esher (Greathouse) Paterson. He married Doris M. (Witthaus) Paterson on September 5, 1953, in Madison, Illinois and she passed away on March 17, 2018. Kenneth retired in 1993 from Granite City Steel after 38 years of dedicated service as a steelworker. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Korean War as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. He enjoyed his days of gardening, playing golf, fishing and theatre with his wife. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family. He is survived by two sons, Kevin Paterson and partner, Scott Eisbrenner of St. Louis, Missouri and Kenneth and wife, Connie Paterson of Collinsville; two granddaughters, Courtney and husband, Nick Spegal of Windfield, Missouri and Kendell and husband, Nick Frerichs of Maryville, Illinois; a great grandson Noah Spegal and one great grandson, Oliver John Frerichs on the way; a brother, Richard Paterson; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
