Gino Bertusi, age 93, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Gino was born on September 9, 1930, in Montese Monena, Italy, a son of the late Ippolito Bertusi and Giovinni (Borri) Bertusi.
Gino was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, IL, he was also an usher every Sunday for about 50 years before the pandemic changed things. He was a talented carpenter and a master craftsman. He had an eye for detail and was a jack of all trades. Gino could fix, build, or repair anything he put his mind to. He never met a stranger, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Gino will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Gino was preceded in death by his sister, Cleonice Gina Bertusi.
He is survived by many dear cousins, extended family, very close friend, Sonya Taylor and many wonderful friends.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, with Father Stephen Thompson officiating.
Memorial donations may be given in the form of masses at Holy Family Catholic Church.
