Daniel Raymond Erion III, age, 67, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Highland Healthcare in Highland, IL. Daniel was born on April 9, 1956, in Mariemont, OH, a son of the late Daniel Raymond Erion II and Clara Belle (Nesbitt) Emmons.
Daniel was a United States Navy veteran who proudly served his country with honor. He served on the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier and was awarded the Navy expeditionary medal for Operation Eagle Claw. He retired from Olin Corporation in East Alton, IL, as a foreman after many years of dedicated service. Daniel was a master cook of the grill. Barbequing was his specialty and exchanging spice packages with his family from the various states they lived in was a must. He was also an avid sports fan, and he loved listening to classic rock. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Daniel loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Hermann.
He is survived by his sons, Daniel Erion IV and Patrick Erion; siblings, Dale (Cereita) Erion of Eaton Rapids, MI, David Erion of Bellefontaine, OH, Patricia Kotsaris of Columbus, OH and Dora Branham of Bellefontaine, OH; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; extended family and friends.
He attended Johnson Road General Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. Daniel believed in Christ and was a born again Christian.
Daniel requested to be cremated and to have no formal services.
