Evelyn Louis Moehle, 92, of Granite City, IL passed away in her home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Evelyn was born on October 28, 1931 in Granite City, IL to Macedonian Immigrant parents, Luka and Vasilka (Savoff) Lovacheff. She was a vital part of the ethnic neighborhood, opening up a grocery story; Louie’s Market, with her father in 1949. Her sister Virginia was in nursing school, brother William was in the service and younger sister Shirley, was young so it was left up to Evelyn and her father to open the family business. In later years she worked at Grand Cleaners, B.A.C and Bee Hat Co. Evelyn loved to do needlework and knitting. She was known for her traditional Macedonian hankeys and headscarf making. Above all, she was loving and generous.
She married Marvin Moehle at Hope Lutheran Church on April 25, 1954. Marvin Sr. preceded her in death in August of 2002. Together they had three children Marvene Doty, Marvin Moehle Jr, and Marilyn (Michael) Weissman.
Besides her children, she is survived by two grandchildren, Peyton Weissman and Jared (Megan) Doty; 3 great grandchildren: and a sister, Shirley Perlman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin Moehle Sr; a brother William Lovacheff and a sister Virginia Calbos.
Even in her declining years, she remained kind and loving until the end. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Evelyn’s wishes were to have a private family burial and no services.
