Joan Eileen Falkenhein, 81, of Granite City, Illinois went to be with the Lord at 4:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born December 28, 1942, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Joseph Edwin and Elsie Jane (Jones) Reeves. She married Norris Riley “Bud” Falkenhein on May 3, 1980, and he passed away on October 17, 2009. Joan worked many years of dedicated service as a clerk and bookkeeper for the federal government at Edwards Air Force Base in California and the Melvin Price Support Center in Granite City. She also worked six years with Hudson Jewelers in Granite City and retired in 1980 from the United States Postal Service in Granite City. She served as the treasurer and an editor for the Last Commission Ministries. Joan’s life was dedicated to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, being a devout prayer warrior, and intercessor. She was always praying for others and loved studying, reading, and researching scripture and the Bible. One of her favorite scriptures was Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Natalie and Nathan Kessler of Edwardsville and Ginger and Roger Sitzes of Evansville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Nicolas and Brianna Kessler, Natasha Kessler, Nicole Kessler, Sophie Sitzes and Lilly Sitzes; a great grandson, Ronan Kessler; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lowanda Reeves and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Rita Reeves, Rev. Kenneth and Norma Reeves, Charles and Betty Reeves and Gerald and Virginia Reeves.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Christ the King Apostolic Church, 6920 Old Collinsville Road in O’Fallon, Illinois on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Andrew Romine officiating.
