James Broshow

James Broshow, 89, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:46 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with his family by his side at Keystone Place at Magnolia Commons in Glen Carbon, Illinois.  He was born July 9, 1934, in Alhambra, Illinois, a son of the late Louis K. and Helen (Kardasheff) Broshow.  James retired December 31, 1996, after 30 years of dedicated service as a plumber and pipefitter in the General Services Administration with the Federal Government.  He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp.  He was a graduate of Edwardsville High School and was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church in Madison, Illinois.  James was a true handyman and could fix anything, build anything including their family home, was always there to help his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved attending his children and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events throughout the years.  He had a great sense of humor and always made everyone laugh.  He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey and Rick Harrington of Troy, Illinois and Jill and Rick Horner of Gilbert, Arizona; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brad Broshow of Granite City and Brent and Lyn Broshow of Evans, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Jake and wife, Kate, Jeremy, Trevor, Blake and fiance, Savannah, Bryce, Clayton and Claire; a great granddaughter, Layla James Harrington; his former wife and friend, Judy Broshow; a sister, Connie Stewart of Chesterfield, Missouri; two nieces, Lori and Sandy; other extended family and many friends.  In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024.  Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be accepted at the funeral chapel. www.irwinchapel.com
