Robert E. “Bob” Lee, born November 26, 1948, concluded his journey on April 5, 2024. Robert lived in Springdale, Arkansas and was formerly of Granite City, Illinois. His departure marks the end of a life that touched many hearts and left a lasting imprint on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Robert was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Cecilia (Wozny) and Edward Janek Sr. Robert was a beloved son, brother, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Blake and Hannah Lee of Ft. Worth, Texas, who will cherish his memory forever. Robert’s granddaughter, Margo, was a source of immense joy in his life. He was a part of a loving family, including his siblings, Edward “Edj” Janek, Janet (Janek) Lathrem and Carmen and Bill Schwartz. Robert shared special bonds with his nieces and nephews, all his aunts, uncles and cousins whose lives were touched and enriched by his presence. In his leisure time, Robert enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was spending time with loved ones, he found joy in the little moments that made life beautiful. He was profoundly religious and enjoyed going to church. Robert was always working out in the gym, it was his life. He was a sports fanatic who loved Cardinals baseball. He loved fishing with his family and always talked about the big one that got away. Although Robert has departed from this world, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the legacy of love, kindness and compassion that he leaves behind. A memorial mass to honor the life of Robert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Avenue in Granite City with Father Steve Thompson as celebrant. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Friendship Room at Holy Family Catholic Church. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in honor of Robert’s memory. He will always be missed and never forgotten. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
