Arlene Joyce Laub, age 94, of Lebanon, Illinois and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Addington Place of Edwardsville. She was born in Granite City, Illinois on October 15, 1929, a daughter of the late Harry Hornberger and the late Ellen (Whittenborn) Sherlock. On August 7, 1948, in Granite City, Illinois, Arlene married Edward C. Laub, the love of her life and he passed away on August 26, 2020. Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She dedicated over 50 years of service with the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Minerva Woman’s Club for many years. She enjoyed working with crafts, sewing, socializing and tending to her yard and flowers. She cherished her grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Jena Laub of Maryville, Illinois, Steven and Cathy Laub of Granite City, Illinois and Matthew and Linda Laub of Lebanon, Illinois; six grandchildren and spouses, Brittney and Sean Barnes of Granite City, Lauren Laub of New York, Kelli and Ian Wheat of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kimberly Laub of London, England, Mitchell Laub of Kansas City, Missouri and Stuart (Madison Noeltner) Laub of Highland, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Logan Barnes and Quinn Laub; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband of seventy-two years and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Gladys Black, Betty Williams, Anita Crabtree and Shirley Brown and a brother-in-law, Robert Laub. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024 at College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Illinois. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
