Linda Rae McLean, age 86, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Linda was born on November 5, 1937, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Raymond King and Lovie (Perigo) Williams.
On March 6, 1958, Linda King married Charles Michael McLean, the love of her life, and Charles passed away on November 24, 2001. Linda was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going out to eat and playing cards with her high school girlfriends. They were known as “Club 55 Girls”, referring to the year they graduated high school. Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a dear friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by her siblings, Ronald King and Judy Hargrove; son-in-law, John Werner, and by her stepmother, Margaret King.
Linda is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Werner of Granite City, IL, Mike McLean Jr., of Granite City, IL, David (Bibiana) McLean of Preshov, Slovakia, Barbara (Ron) Vaughn of West Frankfort, IL and Jeffrey (Brenda) Miller of Pontoon Beach, IL; proud grandmother to Linda Nicole Werner, Jodi Werner, Clayton Werner, Michael McLean and Greg Williams; four dear great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, a funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations will be accepted at the funeral Chapel.
