William Michael Kalips, 75, of Granite City, IL passed away April 27, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO.He was born to the late Leo and Emma (Malone) Kalips on January 24, 1949 in Harrisburg, PA. William served his county in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He met Dixie James and they were married on May 12, 1972 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City, IL. William enjoyed many outdoor activities; such as camping, fishing and feeding the birds. He had a passion for music, loved spending time with his family and watching the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His family will remember him as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and avid Notre Dame Fan.He is survived by his wife Dixie Kalips; 2 daughters: Brandy (Eric) Kary, Krista Hinds; a son: Michael (Brandy) Kalips; 5 grandchildren: Brooke, Megan, Jacob, Nicholas and Lexie; 2 great grandchildren: Jett and Rayne; a brother: Joe Kalips; 5 sisters: Barb Robertson, Patricia McDonald, Charolette Yarbrough, Felicia Rees, Lena Moses; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides his parents, William is preceded in death by a brother: Leo Kalips III.Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Wojstrom Funeral Home.
