ALTON – The Alton Fire Department responded to the 300 block of East 13th Street Sunday night for a house that was on fire.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they had heavy fire and smoke coming from the whole structure. Due to how large the fire was a box-alarm was called and Godfrey and East Alton Fire Department responded. Survival Flight ambulance responded for fire standby.
Due to the large home, East Alton set their ladder truck up and helped with water suppression. Flames could be seen from a half mile away. The house was being renovated and nobody was at the house when the fire broke out.
The house appears to be a total loss. No injuries were reported and it is unknown at this time what started the fire.
