Annette Daniels

Annette May Daniels, 93, of Granite City and formerly of Venice, Illinois, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois surrounded by family.

Annette was born August 19, 1930, in Venice, Illinois, a daughter of the late Carl and Rose (Svezia) Ponce.

Annette graduated from Venice High School with the Class of 1947.

She married the love of her life, Marcellus J. “Mickey” Daniels on October 1, 1949, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Venice and he passed away on May 25, 1994.

Annette had retired from Bank of America with 24 years of service in banking. She also enjoyed serving as a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City for 25 years.

She was active in her earlier years at St. Mark Catholic Church in Venice and later became a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City.

Annette cherished her daughters, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her large extended family and many friends.

She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law; Rosie and Terry Piper of Ballwin, Missouri; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Denise (Rankin) Daniels of Glen Carbon, Illinois and Danny and Pamela (Rankin) Daniels of Collinsville, Illinois and Terry Daniels of Edwardsville, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Katie McIntosh, Amy McIntosh, Elizabeth Dauble, Eynon James “Jimmy” and Ashley Dunn, Mark and Jesca Daniels, Kyle Daniels and fiancé Jenny Yu, Adrienne Belcher, Abbey and Luke Smith, Eric and Jenny Daniels, Jeff and Anna Daniels, Lauren and Seth Langendorf, Olivia Daniels and Ian Daniels; seventeen great grandchildren; dear sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Popeye Paterson of Miami, Florida; dear brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Barb Ponce of O’Fallon, Missouri and Ed and Denise Ponce of St. Charles, Missouri; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband of 45 years, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Dunn; brother, Peter Ponce and sister, Mathilda “Tillie” McGarahan.

The Daniels family would like to extend a thank you to Liberty Village of Maryville and Anderson Hospital for the care given to Annette. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Elaina Giles for the special care and love shown to Annette and the family.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City at 12:00 noon with Father Steve Thompson as celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
