Father McGivney Has An Outstanding Day At The Class 1A State Girls Track Prelims

CHARLESTON – It was a great day for the Father McGivney Lady Griffins of Glen Carbon they advanced nine to the Class 1A Girls state finals on Saturday. 

In the field events high jumper Mia Range met the qualifying jump with a 1.53 to advance to Saturday. It was also a good day for the Griffins in the relays they advanced two of their relay teams to the finals. The 4×800 and the 4×400.

In the 4×800 they finished 2nd out of the heats with a time of 9:51. The team is made up of Kaitlyn Hatley,Caroline Rakers, Jane Cummins, and Elena Rybak and in the 4×400 they finished second out of all the heats with a time of 4:07. That relay had Gilbertson, Hatley, Cummins, and Rybak. 

They also had an outstanding day in the individuals. In the 800 meters, Rybak finished first out of all 31 to advance to the finals with a time of 2:15.

Gilbertson advanced in the 200 and 400 meters. In the 200 she finished 6th with a time of 57.18 and in the 400 she placed 6th with a time of 57.18.

It was a tough day for Alton Marquette both of their qualifiers did not advance to the finals. Kambria Simons came up short in the 100m hurdles and Karly Davenport came up short in the 200.
