CHARLESTON – The Father McGivney Lady Griffins track team came to Charleston Illinois four years ago with one girl Kaitlyn Hatley and four years later they are coming home with a team state title. The Lady Griffins had 56.5-second place Tuscola with 45 and El Paso with 38 points.
Elena Rybak helped a lot this weekend she had four individual state titles. She was part of the 4×800 and 4×400 state champions and she had placed first in the 800m and 1600m races.
Lilly Gilbertson also had a huge day. She was part of the 4×800 and 4×400 state champions and also she placed fourth in the 400m and the 200m. Gilbertson had just finished the 200m and a few minutes later she was right back on the track to lead off the final race in the 4×400.
Also, the lone senior Kaitlyn Hatley helped big today. She was part of the 4x800m she also ran the 400m and the 4×400. Also, Jane Cummins helped big in her two relays. She was in the 4×800 and the 4×400.
The lone field event competitor Mia Range helped when she placed 6th in the High jump.
” This year we came into the year with a plan after fourth place last year we knew we could be better and the girls wanted to go all out and we did and here we are with a first-place trophy.” Father McGivney coach Jim Helton said
