Alice Faye Flaugher, 81, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis, MO.
She was born Nov. 10, 1942, in Graham, KY to the late Alice Marie Rhodes and Clarence Gibson.
Alice was a homemaker and served her family well as a wonderful mother and grandmother. She retired from Starr Bedding after many years as a seamstress.
She is survived by 5 children: Edward Flaugher, Michael Flaugher and Sandra Crider of Granite City, Nancy (Bruce) Hand of Jerseyville, IL and Jason Flaugher of Granite City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Leroy (Laura) Gibson and Richard (Brenda) Gibson of Granite City; and her former husband and friend: Henry Flaugher of Gainesville, MO and his family who she remained very close with. She was also thankful to reconnect with her mother’s side of the family in more recent years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother: Dorothy Gibson; a sister: Shirley Causey; and 3 brothers: Clarence Gibson Jr., Kenneth Gibson and Jerry Gibson.
The family will hold a celebration of Alice’s life at a later date.
