William Joseph Moore, 85, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Thurs. May 23, 2024 at his home while under hospice care.
He was born Feb. 27, 1939 in Indian Grove Mound, TN to the late John Daril and Mavious (Reynolds) Moore.
William was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1960 to 1962. After his service he went to work for U.S. Steel and retired as a millwright leader. He was also a Shriner and a member of the Granite City Moose. In his free time, he enjoyed going to auctions and being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving companion: Roberta Bellovich; five grandchildren: Nicole (Joshua P. Martin) Frieden, Michael Frieden, Alexandria Moore, Allen J. Dotson and Tyler Moore; eight great-grandchildren; a son-in-law: Allen C. Dotson; a daughter-in-law: Cindy Moore; four brothers: Steve Moore, John (Patty) Moore, Charles (Peggy) Moore and David Moore; an uncle: Bob Reynolds who grew up with him and was like a brother; and his beloved dogs: Mr. Jingles, Sampson and Delilah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice J. Reber-Moore.
The family will hold a celebration of William’s life at a late date.
