Marilyn Jean McBee, 89, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2024, at The Boulevard Senior Living of St. Charles. She was born October 5, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Cecilia Rose (Reinhart) Powers. She married William C. “Bill” McBee on May 21, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri and he passed away on August 19, 2021. Marilyn had retired in 1996 from Bank of America after many years as an executive secretary in the banking industry.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed her days of quilting, scrapbooking and studying family genealogy. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kathy McBee of St. Charles, Missouri; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Erik Dam of Castle Pines, Colorado; five grandchildren, Samantha McBee, Nicholas Dam, Stephanie Dam, Paxton Culp and Haley Johnson; two great grandchildren, Elijah Durso and Lincoln Culp; a sister-in-law, Carol Powers of Alpharetta, Georgia; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband of 66 years and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin McBee and a brother, Kenneth Powers. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark Maynard officiating.
