Karl Ebrecht

Karl W. Ebrecht, 67, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born September 17, 1956, in Granite City, a son of the late Robert Charles and Elizabeth Anne “Betty” (Orr) Ebrecht. He married Sue (Lovelady) Ebrecht on June 3, 1978, at Central Christian Church in Granite City and she survives. He had worked at I.B.C. in St. Louis with many years of dedicated service at Hostess-Wonder Bread in chocolate refinery production. Karl was talented in woodworking and made many beautiful pieces throughout the years. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, antique shopping and vacations. He also enjoyed his days in the DeMolay, hunting, fishing and bowling. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three children and their spouses, Adam and Tricia Ebrecht of Charleston, South Carolina, Kimberly and Shane Griggs of Granite City and Nicole and Bryan Pejakovich of Granite City; six grandchildren, Kyleigh, Landon, Karly, Gabriella, Elijah and Matthew; two brothers and their spouses, David and Sherri Ebrecht of O’Fallon, Illinois and Seth “Tom” and Lisa Ebrecht of Granite City; his mother-in-law, Etheline Hall of Granite City; two brothers-in-law, Jim Hall of Granite City and Jay Petras of Breese; sister-in-law, Debora Ebrecht of Highland; his beloved Boston Terrier, Winston; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Roberta Petras and Karen and James Ray and a brother, Steven Ebrecht.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024. Reverend Mike Mayberry and Reverend Jason Wyman will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
