Billy Joe Butler, 84, of Madison, IL passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born to the late William “Watt” and Mary (May) Butler on May 5, 1940, in Russell Township, MO. He met his beloved wife, Mary Eloise and they were married on November 15, 1958 in Madison, IL. Bill worked at ACF Car Industries; once they closed he began a new venture with his friend Ted to Open Ted’s Auto. Together they ran Ted’s Auto Shop in Bill’s garage until 2007 when they retired. Bill was a family man. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was strong, resilient and smart. In his younger years, he played guitar in his band The Country Boys. When he wasn’t playing music or with his family; he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his beloved wiener dog, Tallulah.
Billy is survived by a daughter Pamela Faith; a granddaughter: Savannah Faith; and a great grandchild; Chaze Faith-Baiter.
Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife Mary (Eloise) Butler; a son-in-law: Edward Faith; father and mother–in–law: Elvin and Tiny Smith; and many brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A graveside service to follow at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville, IL.
