John Joseph Buss, 87, of Belleville, IL, born January 28, 1937, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his residence.
John worked over 20 years for Mid Coast Aviation as a driver, and over 30 years as a grocery clerk for Kroger. John was an active member of the St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Catholic Church, Smithton Sportsman’s Club, and Belleville Quail Club. In his free time, John enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and going fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles B. and Josephine V., nee Lake, Buss; his three brothers, James (Helen) Buss, Charles (Sally) Buss, and William Buss; a sister-in-law, Carol Buss; and his stepson, Brian Vogt.
Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Mary L. Gansmann, whom he married on July 27, 1983; two daughters, Dr. Pamela Buss and Michelle (Paul) Richards; two stepchildren, Mike Vogt and Kristi (Jamie) Nowak; his sister, Betty (Norm) Meder; a sister-in-law, Marquita Buss; five grandchildren; Sydney (William Massart) Richards, Olivia (Connor Dennison) Richards, Brady Nowak, Briana Nowak, and Stone Vogt; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A Mass Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
