Patricia A. “Pat” Hoelscher, nee Joellenbeck, 88, of Belleville, IL, born February 14, 1936, in Belleville, IL, died peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2024, surrounded by her family at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL.
Pat worked in civil service as a secretary at Scott Air Force Base for many years before her retirement. She graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame (1953). She was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Pat especially loved being a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, quilting, baking, and being with people. Pat never knew a stranger.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William J. “Bill” Hoelscher, whom she married on April 30, 1955, and who died July 22, 2020; parents, Oliver B. and Irene L., nee Rensing, Joellenbeck; and brother, Ronald G. Joellenbeck.
Surviving Pat are her four daughters, Susan H. (David) Wilson, Catherine (Kenneth Sr.) Kiefer, Jean M. (Eric) Bauder, Sandra L. (Alford “Bud” III) Gore, and honorary daughter, Carol Lawrence; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Rodney) Kroenlein, Christopher Wilson, Kenneth (Kelly) Kiefer, Jr., Michael (Nina) Kiefer, Jameson “Andy” (Lindsey Phelps) O’Guinn, Nicholas (Gabrielle) Bauder, Kelsey (Jesse) Hill, and Alford “Buddy” Gore IV and fiancé Katlyn Menke; 11 great-grandchildren, Tristan and Juliette Lingle, Kaylee and Karlie Kiefer, Riley and Zoey Kiefer, Jack and Elliott O’ Guinn, Violet Bauder, and Amelia and Kendall Hill; her brother, Norman J. (Janet) Joellenbeck; a sister-in-law, Marsha Joellenbeck; and nieces and nephews.
A special heartfelt thanks to our extended family of nurses, CNAs, and staff at St. Paul’s Community Center for your love and care of our parents over the last nine years. And to the folks at Family Hospice, we will never forget your kindness and compassion that helped our family through some very tough days. Please know we are forever grateful to all of you!
