Paul Accardi Sr., age 91, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home. Paul was born on September 29, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late Julius Accardi and Catherine (Todaro) Maniscalco.
Paul was a Korean War Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Paul was a hardworking family man who loved working with his hands. He was a talented carpenter and sheet metal worker. He was a member of Illinois Carpenters Union Local #377 and Missouri Sheet Metals Union Local #36, where he retired from after many years of dedicated service. Paul was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, whom he loved dearly. Paul will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two children, Joey Accardi and Phyllis Case, and by a sister, Josie Lodholz.
He is survived by his loving children, Paul Accardi Jr., of Granite City, IL, Tony Accardi of Granite City, IL, Ross Accardi of Aubrey, TX, Kathryn (Ken) Kelly of Waterloo, IL, and Deborah (Steve) Rosch of Granite City, IL; dear sister, Olivia (Mike) Powers of Florissant, MO; proud grandfather to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, with military honors conducted by the United States Army. The funeral procession will leave Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL, at 10:00 a.m.
