Thomas Alan Childers, 61, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. He was born August 1, 1962, in Granite City, Illinois, a son of Jerry (Tucker) Giffin of Granite City and the late James H. Childers Sr. Thomas had worked as an oil rigger and will be remembered for the love and special times with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved mother, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Josh Hotz of Freeburg; three grandchildren, Jackson, Jace and Jorgia Hotz of Freeburg; two brothers, James H. “Chili” Childers Jr. of Granite City and Timothy Childers of Granite City; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Jeanette Mahoney of Florida, Rebecca Furtak of Freeburg and Liz and Clifford Sanders of Texas; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Childers and a sister, Cindy Miskel.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon with Reverend Daniel Wilson officiating.
