Celeste Kaczorek, age 100, of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, IL. Celeste was born on April 17, 1924, in Baranowo, Poland, a daughter of the late Stanley and Balbina (Michalak) Symolon.
On April 29, 1945, Celeste Symolon married Stanley Kaczorek and they were married for 52 years until his passing on March 4, 1997. Celeste was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, IL. She retired from the bakery department at Miss Hullings Restaurant in St. Louis, MO, after many years of dedicated service. Celeste enjoyed knitting, gardening and entertaining her friends at her home. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Celeste loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Celeste was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Halina Kaczorek; and by three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her loving children, Christine (Stan) Rives of Edwardsville, IL, Sophie (Ed) Provasnik of Glen Carbon, IL and Ted (Sharon) Kaczorek; dear sister, Jadwiga Grzyb of Poland; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, a funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Church in Madison, IL, with Father Stephen Thompson officiating. Celeste will be laid to rest next to Stanley at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to Holy Family Catholic School. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
