Carol Ann Ripley (nee Gerlitz), 88, of Belleville, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer H. and Hazel M. (nee Bolhofner) Gerlitz and beloved husband, Robert L. Ripley.
Carol lived a full life always with a positive attitude and generous heart. Carol is survived by her children, Robert Ripley (Greta) of Northville, MI and Cindy Feaster (Lee) of Des Peres, MO; grandchildren, Lauren Ripley-Close (Liesl), Bryan Ripley (Meghan Rothschild), Grace C. Feaster and Benjamin L. Feaster; great grandchildren, Lucas, Althea and Morgan Ripley-Close, and Oliver Ripley; a sister, Diane Pitlyk, nieces and nephews.
Carol was a proud graduate of the Deaconess College of Nursing and a member of their Alumni Association. She enjoyed her nursing career for over 34 years working in various capacities. She was a faithful member of the First United Presbyterian Church. Carol was very thoughtful, compassionate and giving selflessly to others. She enjoyed a very active social life, often playing bridge with her friends. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her sister, Diane, and attending many of her grandchildren’s activities and their sporting events over the years. Carol’s ever-so-beautiful spirit will be greatly missed.
