Karen Denise Serrano, 64, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She was born April 2, 1960, in Kennett, Missouri, a daughter of the late Ira Eugene Tuberville and Amy Louise (Carter) Boxer. She married Rene Serrano on March 13, 2003, in Belleville, Illinois and he survives. She was employed at Concordia Plans with 40 years of dedicated service as a customer care manager. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Lemay, Missouri and also enjoyed crocheting and her days of traveling. Family was the center of her life, she cherished her children and grandchildren and she loved any type of family gathering. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her five children and spouses, Esteban and Victoria Aguayo of Granite City, Angelica and Juan Hernandez of Granite City, Jose and Kayla Jarillo of Dupo, Anna Carreno of Granite City and Adriana and Quewon Smith of Granite City; fourteen grandchildren, Francisco, Yaneli, Alexandra, Juan, Luis, Jose, Nayeli, Fernando, Elliana, Isaiah, Camila, Ava, Sofia and Olivia; one grandchild on the way; sister, Linda Rodriguez of Granite City; brother and sister-in-law, James and Karla Tuberville of Bryan, Texas; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, with Reverend Sharon Auenreith officiating.
