Naomi Harrington, age 95, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Stearns Nursing and Rehab Center, Granite City, IL. Naomi was born on January 18, 1929, in Chester, IL, a daughter of the late Alvin and Helen (Sianski) Yankey.
Naomi was a member of City Temple Church in Granite City, IL. She had worked at Lexington Nursing Home in Chicago, IL, for five years, and retired from McNeal Hospital as a secretary after twenty-five years of dedicated service. Naomi and her husband, Rev. Lee Harrington pastored a church in Oak Park, IL, for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and going to church to serve the Lord. Naomi will be remembered a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a dear friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lee Harrington, sister, Ruby Mae Kathey; and by her brother, Cloyd Yankey.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Teresa (Daniel)Schultz of Albion, PA; loving stepchildren, Alice Harrington of Waukegan, IL, Brenda (Wendall) Stone of Ocala, FL and Charlotte Hovland of St. Charles, IL; dear siblings, Bonnie (Kenneth) Braundmeier of Maryville, IL, Joyce (David) Wilson of Granite City, IL; proud grandmother to Larry (Mary) Schultz and Tracey (Jim) Adams; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Stacey Wilson officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road, Granite City, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to City Temple Church. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home or church.
