Allen Arthur Hartmann, 94, of Belleville, IL, born September 13, 1929, in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home in Belleville, IL.
Mr. Hartmann was one of three children. He was a graduate of Belleville High School. Allen worked at the Empire Stove Company in Belleville, IL for over 45 years, retiring as VP of Manufacturing. He was also in the Army Reserves. Allen had a strong work ethic and was always willing to help friends or family on any project. He could be found installing A/Cs, pouring concrete driveways, putting on a roof, and fixing the family automobile or anything else that was broken. He also found time to enjoy life hunting, fishing, or camping. Allen was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was able to provide for his family, plan memorable vacations, and offer wise advice. He and his wife Theresa enjoyed playing cards and traveling with family and friends: backpacking across the Canadian Rockies and Colorado, taking cruises, and traveling across the U.S. He often reminisced about his life adventures and talked about his children and grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He frequently said that he had a great, fulfilling life.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Theresa Ann Hartmann, nee Hechenberger, whom he married on April 10, 1958, and who died on February 15, 2024; three of his children, Roman, Theodore, and James Dale; his parents, Henry and Betty, nee Rauch Hartmann; and two sisters, Betty Ann Wilson and Barbara Jean Munie.
