Gordon Eisele

Gordon A. Eisele, 88, of Belleville, IL, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, in Swansea, IL. Born on February 8, 1936, in East St. Louis, IL, Gordon lived a life marked by dedication, family and a love for baseball.

A proud member of the first graduating class of Assumption High School in East St. Louis. Gordon served in the U. S. Army from 1959 to 1961. Stationed primarily near Stuttgart, Germany, he worked as a secretary to a general, demonstrating his commitment and reliability.

Gordon enjoyed a distinguished career as a livestock buyer at Mullatti & Eisele Company in National Stockyards, East St. Louis, IL and previously at Krey Packing Company in St. Louis, MO. His strong work ethic was evident throughout his career.

Baseball was Gordon’s passion. As a youth, he played in East St. Louis and later dedicated much of his time to coaching. He led his oldest son Doug’s baseball team from T-ball and managed his youngest son Tim’s team, the Razorbacks, from t-ball through high school. Under his leadership, the Razorbacks were a successful and beloved team. Gordon cherished his time with his wife. sons, grandsons and extended family and friends.

  • Brother, Donald Eisele

Surviving are his:

  • Wife of 53 years, Jeanne M., nee Schlattweiler, Eisele
  • Sons:
    • Douglas M. (Lynn) Eisele of Shiloh, IL
    • Timothy P. Eisele of Shiloh, IL
  • Grandsons, Ian and Issac Eisele
  • Sisters-in-law:
    • Jane Soehlke of Collinsville, IL
    • Peg Schlattweiler of Belleville, IL
  • Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ian and Issac Eisele Education Fund c/o Douglas Eisele.

Funeral: Private Memorial Service will be held at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
