Mildred S. Noeth, 93, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, IL. She was born July 19, 1931, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Michael and Julia Caroline (Gonsey) Papp. She married James Eugene Noeth on November 29, 1952, at the former St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granite City. He passed away on June 15, 2010. Mildred served as a substitute teacher for many years with the Granite City School District. She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City.
Mildred was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary, Red Hat Ladies, and the Granite City Elkette’s. She enjoyed her days with gardening, crossword puzzles, and needlepoint work. She was a strong woman – strong in life, strong in faith and strong in her love of family. One of her favorite things in life was spending time with family, whether at a large reunion, a holiday celebration, visits with her kids or just having a niece or nephew stop in for a visit. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with family and friends.
Mildred is survived by three children and their spouses, Elaine and Bruce McInally of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jerry and Lisa Noeth of Loudon, Tennessee and Janice and Mike Fernandez of Collinsville, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Pattie Noeth of Granite City, Illinois; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa Brunelli, Laura and Kyle Blank, James and Nicole Clutts, Christina and Matt Bennett, Justin Noeth, Alyssa Noeth, Kim and Justin Hongisto, Jared Fernandez and Jordan Fernandez; eight great grandchildren, Ben, Trenton, Brynleigh, Magen, Micah, Luke, Logan and Aliah; brother, Michael Papp of Nalcrest, Florida; sister-in-law, Dorothy Scheibol of Godfrey, Illinois; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Noeth and six siblings and their spouses, Rose and Delbert Tax, Eleanor and John Petrick, Carolyn and Charlie Sanders, Bobby and Jane Papp, Barbara and Melvin Kramer and Kathy and Gene Dehn.
In honor of her life, visitation will be at St.Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City, Illinois on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. where a Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, with Father Alfred Tumwesigye as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
