Rosaline (Rosie) Brown, nee Cruz, age 85, of Rolla, MO, formerly of Fairmont City, IL, born on May 27, 1939, in Fairmont City, IL, our dear Aunt Chata, died on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO surrounded by her loving family.
Rosie and Jimmy met fishing and enjoyed it for many years together. Rosie was very active in the VFW- St James, Lions Club, American Legion Post 270 and the Knights of Columbus along with her husband, Jimmy. Together they owned and operated the St. James Flag store for 15 years. Rosie also had a booth at the St. James Antique Mall for over 25 years.
Rosie was the life of the party! She loved family gatherings as well as shopping with her friends. She loves playing various games, especially going to Bingo, and she was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
In her early years she was a professional Ballroom dance instructor with Arthur Murray Dance Studio, in St. Louis, MO. She retired as a Pharmacy Tech from Walmart Pharmacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Brown, Jr; her parents, Fructoso and Soledad, nee Torres Cruz, Sr.; and 15 brothers and sisters.
Rosie is survived by her brothers, Avelino “DeDe” (Gloria) Cruz of O’Fallon, IL and Joseph (Judy) Cruz of Maryville, IL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, many dear friends in Rolla, MO, especially DeDe and Ron, Barry and Theresa, Steva and Ray, Bob and Sue, Will and Frey.
