Scott Wayne Grote, age 57, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Scott was born on March 11, 1967, in Granite City, IL. On June 30, 1990, Scott married Laura Chenault, the love of his life in Granite City, IL. Scott was a faithful member of First United Presbyterian Church in Granite City, IL. He had an amazing voice, and he sang in the church choir and the community choir in Granite City. He was also a member of Granite City Elks Lodge #1063. Scott had worked for Siemens Medical and Granite City Steel for over thirty years. Scott loved all sports, and he excelled at soccer and in high school his team won the state championship for GCHS. He also played soccer in college for Western Illinois University. Scott passed down his love of soccer to his sons and he loved coaching them throughout the seasons they played. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, whom he loved dearly. Scott never met a stranger, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Norman Grote, stepfather, Eldon Marti, and by his father-in-law, Dennis Chenault. He is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Grote of Granite City, IL; loving sons, Nicholas (Karli) Grote of Collinsville, IL and Andrew (Jaclyn) Grote of Houston, TX; dear mother, Betty Marti of Granite City, IL; brothers, Barry (Tracie) Grote of Granite City, IL and Jeffrey Grote of Granite City, IL; mother-in-law, DaOnne Chenault; brothers-in-law, Matt (Jamie) Chenault and Scott Chenault; sister-in-law, Marti Chenault; nieces and nephews, Dane Grote, Lexi Grote, Gavin Grote, Paige Grote, Olivia Grote, Myah Chenault, Ian Chenault, Carson Chenault, Troy Chenault and Maggie Chenault; extended family and many wonderful friends.
