Paul Storment

Paul M. Storment, Jr. 88, of Belleville, IL, died Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Paul was born September 19, 1936, in East St. Louis to Hazel and Paul Storment Sr. The family moved to Belleville in 1941, where he attended Harmony School and Signal Hill Grade School. He attended Belleville Township High School and was a varsity athlete and graduated in 1955. He attended DePaul University in where he received his BA degree in 1959. He received a varsity letter and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He then attended Washington University where he received his Doctorate of Law, passed the Illinois and Missouri bar and practiced law from 1963 until his death.

In 1963, he commenced his practice with Wagner, Connor, Bergerson, Bertrand and Baker where he practiced law in Belleville until opening his own practice at 111 W. Washington and later at 310 East Washington Street in Belleville, IL where he did civil and criminal trial work.

He was appointed Assistant Attorney General, was an officer of the St. Clair County Bar and was Assistant State’s attorney under John Marshall Karnes where he tried many criminal cases. He practiced law in St. Clair County, the Federal Courts and other states for 61 years and received a distinguished counselor award for 50 years of practice.

He was a member of and attended the Signal Hill and Union Methodist Churches in Belleville, IL.

He greatly enjoyed collecting antique clocks, other antiques and furnished his offices with them. He also loved playing sports.

He leaves behind a loving wife, JoAnn Storment; his son, Paul M. Storment, III (Michele); his daughter, Erin Olschansky (Craig), seven grandchildren, Emily Fields (Justin), Patrick Storment (fiancée, Olivia), Margo Foster (Max), Moriah Olschansky, Rhiannon Lister (Arron), Simon Olschansky and Lucas Olschansky; six great-grandchildren, Joel Paul Anthony Fields, David Jude Fields, baby sister soon, and three additional beautiful great-granddaughters.

A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Barnes Hospital for their extraordinary care.

He wants you all to know he had a great time on earth and expects to have a better time in the hereafter and will enjoy seeing his old friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Doug Stewart officiating.
