Carylon Ruth Coryell, 83, of Granite City, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:25 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born June 16, 1941, in McClure, Illinois, a daughter of the late Orvil and Maggie (Smiddy) Brown. She married Bobby J. Coryell on October 28, 1961, at the Church of God parsonage in Bellwood, Illinois. Carylon was a cosmetologist and enjoyed several years as a hairdresser out of her home. She was a faithful member of Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church in Granite City. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, tending to her yard and reading. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Sandy Brown of Milan, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and spouses, Lane Mifflin, Ambre and Gil Patric, Josh and Kia Coryell, Bobby J. Coryell, Jeremy Mifflin, Aaron Mifflin and wife, and Brandan and Elizabeth Mifflin; many great grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Brown of Anna, Illinois; a sister, Remonia Wright of Anna, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Jeffery Mifflin; a son, Dale Coryell and siblings, Shirley Downey, Robert Brown, Lonnie Brown, Bert Brown, Patty Brown and an infant brother, Orvil Brown.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church, 2445 Ohio Avenue in Granite City on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 4 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 7 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
