Eugene “Gene” Francis Kaelin II, 74, of O’Fallon, IL, born September 30, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, in O’Fallon, IL, surrounded by his loved ones.
Gene retired after 45 years of over the road truck driving. He was a simple man who loved to be with his friends and family. He loved his grandchildren deeply. He enjoyed trips to the beach and being in any body of water. He was incredibly handy and willing to help anyone he could. He was an avid NASCAR and Rams football fan and loved to golf.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Karon Kaelin Sr. (nee Kennemore); and two brothers, Douglas James Kaelin, and Blake Darrell Kaelin.
Cherishing Genes memory are his beloved wife, Lynn Kaelin (nee Weidemann); daughter, Kayla (Will) Carter; brother, Philip Gordon (Ellen) Kaelin; grandchildren, Lucius and Alister Carter, sisters-in-law, Margie Kaelin, Sherry Weidemann, Dawn Weidemann, Paula Weidemann; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Schildknecht Funeral Home; 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
