Lucille Elizabeth Kistner, nee Lanter, 97, formerly of Fairview Heights, IL, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Oak Hill Skilled Care, Waterloo, IL.
She was born January 13, 1927, to Julius and Louisa, nee Wilhelm, Lanter, in Mascoutah, IL. Lucille married her beloved Norman Kistner on September 11, 1948. They celebrated 48 years of marriage before Norman’s passing in 1997.
Lucille enjoyed being a homemaker who adored her large family. Her passions included cooking, baking, crocheting, and playing bingo. She was well known for her delicious old-fashioned butter cookies, one-of-a-kind chocolate chip oatmeal brownies, and traditional Christmas stollen. Lucille also shared her love through making warm, cozy afghans for family and friends. Lucille has been a devout Catholic her entire life with the last 27 years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Kistner; her parents, Julius and Louisa, nee Wilhelm, Lanter; in-laws, Frank and Elizabeth, nee Spaeth, Kistner; two brothers, Joseph (Dorothy) Lanter, Paul Lanter; two sisters, Helen (Raymond) Reeb, Alice (Frank) Korte; a niece Sister Carol Reeb, S.S.N.D.; and two grandchildren, Stephen Dohle and Sarah Kistner.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Joan (James) Dohle, Dan (Susan) Kistner,
Gary (Elaine) Kistner, Margie (Rich) Vanderhoof, and Mark (Sheree) Kistner;
16 grandchildren, James (Brandy) Dohle III, Kristen Dohle, John (Emily) Dohle, Brittney (Andy) O’Connell, Brian Kistner, Bethany (Kevin) Beumer, Michael (Jessica) Kistner, Shannon (Kory) Ripperda, Carrie (Joe) Lowry, Tim (Megumi) Vanderhoof, Tom Vanderhoof, Matt Kistner, Kyle Kistner, Collin Yeager, Megan (Zack) Hereford, and Alex (Abbey) Bridges;
She will also be missed by her 27 great-grandchildren; plus, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Memorial Hospital Shiloh, Oak Hill Skilled Care in Waterloo, and Hospice of Southern Illinois for their continued care and support.

Funeral: A memorial service honoring Lucille will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
