Marguerite Marlinghaus

Marguerite “Kate” (nee Finch) Marlinghaus, age 87 of Caseyville, IL, born on March 26, 1937, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.

Kate was a graduate of St. Teresa Academy, class of 1955. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights, IL. She was a cafeteria worker, Heavenly Duster & Quilter just to name a few. She worked many fish fries and was affectionately known as “The Pie Lady” to many. Her legacy will live on thanks to her sharing her many great recipes and talents with others.

Her best and most loved role was that of “Mom.” Her family was everything to her and she was everything to us.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Larry T. Marlinghaus; parents, Gordon A. & Marguerite M. (nee Reagan) Finch; brother, Gordon O. Finch; sisters Susan Pierce & Sharron Henderson; and granddaughter, Andrea Hottenrott.

Kate is survived by her children: Andrea (John) Duncan of Collinsville, IL, Dana (Roger) Hottenrott of Smithton, IL, Larry G. (Julie) Marlinghaus of Caseyville, IL, Mona (Gary) Hoffmann of Troy, IL, and Karl (Jeannie) Marlinghaus of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren: John (Melissa), Christopher, and Kyle (Cassie) Duncan, Kathleen (Ryan) Converse, Brett (Kristal) Hottenrott, Lauren (Rylie Harreld) and Erica Marlinghaus, Patrick (Erica), Michael, and Rachel (CJ Michalski) Hoffmann, and Hannah and Allison Marlinghaus; great grandchildren: Dylon, Sophia, Tessa, Emma, Ryan, Averie, Aubrey, Freya, Avery, Kinley, Cade, Brynn, Emmy, and Claudia; siblings: Janice Lenhardt, and Joseph (Lee) Finch, sisters-in-law: Barbara, and Emilie Marlinghaus; many loving nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at San Gabriel Memory Care of Highland, IL and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and support.

A visitation for Kate will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights, IL from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will follow immediately at 12 p.m. with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donatons in Kate’s memory can be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Alzheimer’s Association, and the Illinois Center for Autism.
