Gary Kimberlin

Gary J. Kimberlin, age 64 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, October 17, 2024, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL.

He was born on Wednesday, September 14, 1960, in Highland, IL, the son of Dale and Dorothy (nee Korte) Kimberlin.

On Saturday, September 12, 1992, he married Elisa A. Kimberlin nee Brockmeier at Grantfork, IL, who survives.

He was a member of the NRA; HVAC; Knights of Columbus Council 1580; Highland Pistol & Rifle Club.

Gary was born and raised in Lakeland Terrace Subdivision, Highland. He graduated from St. Paul High School in 1979. During high school he worked at Neubauer’s Meat Market. He later worked for Broadway Battery and Tire and Korte Construction of Highland, as well as Whirlpool (appliances) of St. Louis. He later worked for Envisioneering (Medical Equipment) in St. Louis, subsequently commuting between St. Louis and their facilities Pittsburg. His hobbies were camping, trout fishing, hunting, generally loved nature and collecting baseball cards. He enjoyed traveling: honeymooning in Hawaii, spending time in Florida, fishing trip in Canada, sightseeing in Alaska, and most often, camping in Montauk State Park, MO. Many enjoyable weekends were spent at Grafton, IL, with family and friends. Gary was a diligent, hard worker, and as his wife said, “He could fix anything for anybody anytime.” He played softball all his life, even the over 40 league, was a big St. Louis Blues hockey fan and loved dogs. Gary was witty, funny, had a great sense of humor with a big heart. He was a member of RSES.

(Jordan) Kampwerth, Dallas, TX; Lindsey M. Kampwerth, Highland, IL; Brittney R. (John) Becker, Breese, IL; Troy C. (Niki) Kimberlin, Dubai; Victor R. Kimberlin, Fulton, IL; Claire Schaffer, St. Louis, MO; Sam Schaffer, Austin, TX; Uncle – Marcellus W. “Popeye” (Agnes) Korte, Breese, IL; Father-In-Law – Earl E. Korte – Died 1/04/2010; Eugene B. “Gene” Korte – Died 1/28/2015; Gerald G. “Jerry” Korte – Died 1/10/2016; Sgt. Jerome A. Korte, US Air Force – Died 12/07/1944; Alfred H. Korte – Died 7/17/1998; Aunts – Magdalen M. “Madge” Haenny – Died 11/11/2006; Lenore “Toots” Windsor – Died 11/02/2020; Mother-In-Law – Muriel Y. Brockmeier, nee Schrumpf – Died 10/24/2019.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Memorial Service will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Got Your Six Support Dogs, Siteman Cancer Center or Madison County Humane Society.
