Frances E. Athy, nee Christ, of Nebo, NC, formerly of Coulterville, IL, born March 12, 1937, in Mascoutah, IL, died Friday, October 18, 2024, at Rose Hill Retirement Community, Marion, NC.
Frances was a loving mother and grandmother. She had been active in the mothers’ club at both St. Mary Catholic Church and Cathedral of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Swanwick Quilters Club and a past 4-H leader. Frances owned her own florist shop, Athy Florist, in Belleville for many years. Her family and flowers were her passion.
She was preceded in death by a son, Martin Athy; a grandson Bill Athy; her parents, Alvin and Josephine, nee Rieder, Christ; and a brother, Joseph Christ;
Surviving are her five daughters, Joan (Bruce) Bjerke, Karen Athy-Penrose, Kathy (Greg) Sherwood, Gail Bach, and Jean (Kevin) Bjerke; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Diane) Christ and William (Roseanne) Christ; three sisters, Doris Albert, Kathryn (George) Burnham, and Ruth (Michael) Pusich; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Fr. Godfrey Mullen, OSB, officiating.
Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
