Alden J. Stout, 86, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at his home with family by his side.
He was born June 10, 1938, in Center, Arkansas, a son of the late John Robert and Blanche Mae (Endsley) Stout.
He married the love of his life, Shirley (Lankford) Stout on April 22, 1957, in Clarendon, Arkansas and she survives.
He retired from Harvard Industries after many years of service as a foreman. Alden was a member of the Clark Avenue Church of Christ and was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan and Mark Martin racing team. He enjoyed his days of fishing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis Stout of Glen Carbon and Greg and Connie Stout of Elsah; two daughters, Kathy and Aaron Hickam of Granite City and Marlene Bruce and Stan Eversgerd of Bartelsa, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Josh and Kristi Hickam, Jeremy and Kristin Hickam, Adam Stout, Jessica and John Bracamontes, Amber and Andrew Yount, Brandon and Kaleigh Goetter and Isaac Stout; eight great grandchildren, Rian, Maggie, Kori, Ella, Keller, Lyla, Jackson and Brady; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Darlene Stout and four sisters, Marge Kuntz, Alice Breeding, Sharon Andrus and Karen Nicholas.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 p.m. with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
