Roger Ladell Butler, 85, of Belleville, IL, born October 7, 1939, in Denison, TX, and passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at his residence.
Roger was a retired United States Air Force veteran who served for 28 years reaching the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
He was an avid runner and participated in several road races, including 10Ks. He had a strong passion for the movie industry and could name every actor of his generation. He liked music and collecting memorabilia. One of his favorite hobbies was researching family genealogy and he loved photography. He would also donate to numerous charities.
Roger was the biggest fan of Notre Dame football, keeping track and watching every game live and recorded of the Fighting Irish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jane (Dorsey) Butler; and siblings, Ferry Tabb, Rosie Martin, Ruth Jones, Thomas Butler, Bonnie Butler, Laverne Thompson, Genie Butler, Joyce Simmons, Billie Joyce Butler, and Jackie Butler.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Travis (Alford) Butler, whom he married on May 31, 1970.
He is also survived by four children, Don (Mary) Butler, Angela (Robert) Muhammad, Stahle (Sara) Butler, and Brian Butler; and his remaining two siblings, Pauline Drake and Muriel Sterling.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Elijah (Kylie) Butler, Imani Dixon, Isaac Butler, Eden Butler, Sabir Muhammad, Brian Butler, Jr., Olivia Butler, Wahid Muhammad, Nora Butler, Stahle Butler, Jr., and Halim Muhammad.
And lastly, great-grandchildren, Caden Butler and Tinsley Butler; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Burial with military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
