Brian E. Dinges, 59, of Fairview Heights, IL, born December 16, 1964, in Belleville, IL, died Friday, November 1, 2024, at his residence.
Mr. Dinges worked in the parts and maintenance department at Auffenberg Auto Mall and retired after more than 20 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed hanging out with his cousin, Steve, at Dinges Auto Sales. Brian was an avid golfer and bowler and participated in many leagues. He loved attending his young cousins, Kristin, Kelsey, and Stephen Jr’s sporting events and you could often find him cheering them on alongside their mom, Susan Dinges. This interest sparked his passion for becoming an IHSA Official. He spent many years officiating and scoring basketball and volleyball games at Maryville Christian School and other metro area schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Shirley, nee Doolittle, Dinges; two aunts, Ethel (Fred) Mueller and Dorothy Miller; an uncle, Erwin (Mildred) Dinges; and a cousin, Jack Dinges, Jr.
Surviving are his cousins, Tom Dinges, Jerry Dinges, Jack Dinges, Sr., Nancy Bernaix, Mark Doolittle, Wesley Doolittle, Joyce Ehr, Carolyn Jenkins, Marsha Hoffmeister, Vicki Ellis and Douglas Miller; and their families.
The family would like to give special thanks to Brian’s neighbors and friends, Dave and Tracy Ackerman, Rich Delmore, and Gary Luechtefeld, for their help and care.
