Joyce Longbottom

Joyce Ann Longbottom, 73, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

She was born April 18, 1951, in Granite City, Illinois, a daughter of the late Russell I. and Lorraine M. (Knauer) Boushard.

She married James “Louie” Longbottom on July 21, 1973, at the Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City and he passed away on October 21, 2009.

Joyce had worked as an executive secretary at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in St. Louis and retired in 2015 from the Swank Motion Pictures in St. Louis after 15 years of dedicated service as a customer service representative. After retirement, she volunteered for many years with Gateway Regional Medical Center.

She was a faithful member of Nameoki United Methodist Church and enjoyed several years serving as a church secretary. She was a board member of the Gateway Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and enjoyed her years attending the HOPE widow’s luncheons. Joyce was a talented piano player, enjoyed working with ceramics and prayer time and Bible study with church members and friends.

She is survived by a sister, Eileen Fisher of Granite City; a nephew, Paul Davis of Granite City; a niece, Ruth and husband, Scott McCormick of St. Peters, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Linda and husband Vernon Parker of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband of 36 years and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Carl Fisher and Claude Davis and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Dorothy “Vernette” Longbottom.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Nameoki United Methodist Church, 1900 Nameoki Road in Granite City on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 p.m. with Reverend Mattheis Lorimor officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorials may be made to Nameoki United Methodist Church.
