Mrs. Jeanette Young was born to the union of Ernest Douglas and Mamie (nee, Miller) Douglas on March 25, 1941, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, and died on November 4, 2024, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; two sisters, Ernestine Vaugh and Lillie Perkins; three brothers, BC Hendricks, Willie Lee Hendricks and TC Hendricks.
Jeanette was an inspiration to all. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Jeanette was full of laughter and resilience.
Jeanette retired from American Steel Foundry after working 15 years of service. Her most favorable hobbies were fishing with friends, going to yard sales, and playing her favorite slots at the casino.
Mrs. Jeanette Young leaves to cherish her loving memories, three daughters, Jeaneen Young of East St. Louis, IL, Lynette Young of O’Fallon, IL and Darlene Young of Lancaster, TX; one brother, George Douglas of East St. Louis, IL; three sisters, Florence Bland of Belleville, IL, Geraldine Ayers of O’Fallon, IL, and Rosemary Howard of East St. Louis, IL; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, with Courtney Young officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
