Donald Lee Milligan, 72, of O’Fallon, IL, went to eternal rest on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Freeburg Care Center, with his wife by his side. Don was born December 13, 1951, to Forrest (Mike) Marcella, nee Buettner, Milligan.
Don was born and raised in Belleville, IL. He attended St. Teresa Grade School and Belleville East High School until his family moved to Labadie, MO. Don graduated from Washington Missouri High School in 1970 and attended East Central College in Union, MO.
Don worked in the retail business for over 40 years. He was a manager for P.N. Hirsch, Venture, and OfficeMax. Don enjoyed working part-time collecting money from vendors at Six Flags St, Louis, Eureka, MO. He spent the last 14 years as a logistics/fork driver at DB Shenker until he retired. He then took a part time job at Country Mart in Freeburg, deciding he needed something to do. Don returned to Freeburg to be close to family where he lived with his wife. Upon retirement, they moved to Regency Manor where they have many friends.
Don had many hobbies he loved as much as his family. For many years, he bowled in leagues with friends. He loved to collect Donald Duck memorabilia. Don enjoyed the occasional drink of Jack and Coke and collecting shot glasses, cards, snacks, and many more Jack Daniel’s collectables.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Mike O. and Marcella M. Milligan; a brother, Michael Milligan; his mother-in-law, Mary T. Heap; three brothers-in-law, James Heap, James Bell, and Tom Clark; a sister-in-law, Donna M. Heap; and niece, Denise Milligan King.
He left behind so many family members and friends that truly loved him.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Melinda M., nee Heap, Milligan, whom he married on May 16, 1987; two wonderful children, Charity (Peter) Winter and Mike (Audrey) Milligan; four grandchildren he loved very much, Alyssa (Jared) Smith, Edward Winter, Ezra Milligan, and Hailey Milligan; his great-granddaughter, Anastasia; a brother, Dennis (Kay) Milligan; two sisters, Diana Clark and Laura (Roger) Dunning; a special Goddaughter, Hannah Johns; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone, especially the Freeburg Care Center Activities Department and Hospice of Southern Illinois. The workers at the care center gave him such good treatment and care.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Pastor Tarrah Vaupel officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
