Robert K. Mohrman, age 89, of Smithton, IL., born on March 27, 1935, in Quincy, IL, died peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by family at the Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.
Robert retired from Ralston Purina Co., St. Louis, MO in 2001, after 42 years of work. While at Ralston Purina, Robert was director of pet nutrition and care research and worked internationally as a director of formulation and professional services. He served stateside as a member of the U.S. Army Active Reserve during the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged in 1961 after eight years of service.
Robert was a life member and Past President of the St. Clair County Historical Society. He was also a Board Member Emeritus for the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society. Continuing his love of history, Robert was also an active member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Hecker Camp #443. He served as both Junior and Senior Vice Commander as well as editing their award-winning newsletter. Robert was also a former wrestling coach and life member of the Belleville Little Devils Boys Club.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Florence, nee Meise, Mohrman; and his siblings, Harold Mohrman, Glenn Mohrman, Ruth Royalty, Jack Mohrman and Pete Mohrman. He is survived by his wife, Shirley A., nee Kasson, Mohrman; his children Elizabeth (Dave Cremeens) Mohrman, Nancy (Kathy Kaye) Mohrman, Chris (Maggie) Mohrman, Diane (Ron) Marks, Robert (Patty) Alvarez, Pamela (Don) Wilhold, Michael (Karen) Alvarez, and Angelo (Mary) Alvarez; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
Robert’s family would like to thank the staff of the Freeburg Care Center for the excellent care provided to Robert during his stay there.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. Funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with Father Stan Konieczny officiating. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
