Barbara Hall

Barbara Ann Hall, 80, of Foley, Alabama and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Baldwin Health in Foley.

She was born November 4, 1944, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, a daughter of the late James F. and Gola “Maxine” (Williams) Hoover.

She married Terry Dean Hall on July 11, 1981, at Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City and he survives.

Barbara retired in 1995 from National Supermarket in Collinsville after 25 years of dedicated service as a head cashier and office manager. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church where she sang with the choir and a member of Unity Baptist Church. She loved supporting the Illinois Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi, Illinois where she had served on the Board of Trustees. She was also a member of the United Food and Commercial Worker’s Union, loved traveling and cruises, enjoyed playing cards and was known to be a coupon queen. Barbara cherished her family and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and John (Jackovich) Haas of Rock Falls, Illinois, Dina and Mike Altenberger of Collinsville and Beth and Mark Zabawa of Pensacola, Florida; seven grandchildren, Justin and Amanda Altenberger, Ashley Haas, Lauren and John Patrick Brown, Hannah Altenberger, Jared Haas, Andrew Zabawa and Sarah Zabawa; five great grandchildren, Tristen, Hunter, Kolten, Gunner and Kylee Altenberger; one great grandbaby Brown on the way; a sister, Dorothy “Jean” Ward of South Carolina; aunt, Sharon Carter of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Janet Coleen Hoover and a brother-in-law, Glenn Ward.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 11 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jarad Corzine officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi and may be accepted at the funeral chapel. Online condolences may be accepted at www.irwinchapel.com.
