Janet Lynne Matysik, nee Baro, 78, of Swansea, IL, born September 27, 1946, in Point Pleasant, NJ, died Friday, November 15, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Mrs. Matysik was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church in Belleville, IL. She retired from Belleville District 118, where she had been an elementary teacher for over 30 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Thomas L. Matysik, whom she married on May 4, 1973, and who died on April 9, 2012; her parents, Bernard Baro and Norma Baro-Heinzmann; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Theodora Matysik; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Matysik.
She is survived by her children, Lynne (Christopher) Engelage of Mascoutah IL, Brian (Gina) Matysik of Cape Girardeau, MO,
David (Daniele) Matysik of Caseyville, IL, and Brenna (Amanda) Matysik of Wentzville, MO; six grandchildren, Paige and Heidi Engelage of Mascoutah, IL,
Destiny, Savannah and Corbin Matysik of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Emersyn Matysik of Wentzville, MO; four siblings, Nancy Eichacker of Manchester, MO,
Barbara Stroud of Jacksonville, NC, John (Gloria) Baro of Aviston, IL, Steve (Paula) Baro of Shiloh, IL; a sister-in-law, Jeandra (Dave) Conzelman of Belleville, IL; a cousin, Susan Sarfaty of Belleville, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
