Carol A. Zweck, age 75 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.
She was born on Thursday, February 17, 1949, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Felton and Hazel (nee Blaha) Riggs.
On Saturday, October 20, 1973, she married Onis C. Zweck at St. Jacob UCC, St. Jacob, IL, who survives.
She was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ, American Legion Auxillary Post 665-St. Jacob, IL (Life Member); VFW Auxiliary Post 5694-Highland, IL (Life Member).
Carol was born in Highland, grew up in St. Jacob and graduated from Triad High School in 1967. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Highland, as a nurses aide on the second floor and ICU, prior to raising their two sons. In 1980, she began selling Avon Cosmetics and sold them for over 25 years. She enjoyed having many pets: dogs, cats, outside birds and squirrels.
She also liked road trips to Lambert’s Restaurant, Sikeston, MO and the Great River Road restaurants. She was a big supporter of McKendree University and Millikin University. Since 2020 she has been at Highland Health Care Center-Highland. Her hobbies were reading (mystery and romance novels), singing at church and with the JOY Singers-Highland and listening to country music.

- Father – Peyton John Riggs – Died 11/11/2008

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob, IL.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob, IL, with Rev. Philip J. Barbier, Pastor.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jacob UCC Memorial Fund.
