Phillip Manninger

Phillip Leonard Manninger, 79, of Pontoon Beach, IL, passed away Thurs. Nov. 21, 2024 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis, MO.

He was born May 30, 1945 in Granite City, a son of the late Inez (Brooks) Speno and Rex Manninger.

On March 7, 1969, he and Alberta E. Barnes were married in Granite City. She preceded him in death Apr. 19, 2024.

Phillip was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. Following his military service, he worked for the railroad until an accident forced his retirement. He was a lifetime member of AmVets #51 and was a part of the Sad Sacks. He had also been a member of the VFW. He loved to go thrifting and was a collector of treasures.

He is survived by Ida (Samuel) Lance of New Athens, IL; 6 granddaughters: Kalyn (Louis) White, Alina (Adam Erickson) Lance, BaileyRose (Dominic) Irby, Abigail Mull, Shelby Manninger and Alexandra Manninger; and a brother: Rex Manninger of Pontoon Beach.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Phillip Manninger Jr.; and a brother: Bruce Manninger.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory with Larry Blankley officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital.
